Air Quality Testing
At SafeAir Certified Mold Inspection, our first step in the investigation for mold growth in your home or workplace is a detailed mold inspection to identify possible mold growth. When mold growth is suspected, air quality testing for mold or mold surface sampling is recommended.
Our state-of-the-art mold testing equipment provides comprehensive data that we will deliver to you in a detailed laboratory report prepared by a certified mold inspector (CMIA). This information in a mold inspection and mold testing report includes:
- Type of mold detected in the sample area
- Raw mold spore count for each mold spore species that was collected in the air quality test
- Raw count for the total mold fungi that was collected in the air quality test
- Estimated numerical total of each mold spore species per meter of air in the sample environment
- Estimated numerical total of mold spores per meter in the sample environment
AIR SAMPLE TESTING FOR MOLD
When possible, we prefer air sample testing because it is by far the most useful test available for detecting a mold problem. Air testing:
- Involves using a calibrated air pump to move a known quantity of air through a special impact collection plate to capture mold spores in the air
- Provides a microscopic analysis of the collection plate that reveals the species of mold present along with an accurate quantity of mold spores in the air
- Requires at least two air samples – one inside and one outside. If the mold spore count and mold species inside is about the same as the mold spore count outside, you probably do not have a mold issue inside your home or building
