SafeAir Certified Mold Inspection offers three different types of surface samples for mold testing: bulk samples, lift tape samples, and swab samples.
Bulk samples
Bulk samples, with or without visible mold growth, are suitable for analysis. We take samples from…
- Drywall
- Insulation material
- Baseboard
- Ceiling and floor
However, bulk sampling may be somewhat destructive and should be used only if other means of mold testing are not possible, or if a more detailed analyses is required.
Lift tape and swab samples
Tape lifting and swabbing for mold are primarily used to verify that a suspicious substance is indeed mold, as well as to identify the species of mold and determine the level of mold contamination on a surface. Mold testing using these two methods are less expensive than air quality testing or bulk sampling, and mainly are useful for symptom diagnosis and confirmation of suspicious areas. They also can be used to find out if a surface is “clean” after remediation.
